How about a photo session at Casa Miyama? As professional photographers, we offer a variety of photography services such as family photos on the traditional Japanese wooden veranda, individual and group photos in the studio, including analog photo session such as wet plate and gelatin silver. It will surely be a memorable experience.
Thatched Roof Atitc Gallery
From outside, you cannot see it, but Casa Miyama's roof is thatched rood. Have an experience of being under the traditional Japanese thatched roof while enjoying the photo exhibition and photo book library at the attic.
Starry Sky
In Miyama, where there is no light pollution, a sky full of stars spreads out. You can lie down on the deck installed in Casa Miyama's picnic space and look at the countless stars and the moon. You can experience things that seem so easy but actually you can't do usually.
Cards and Games
You can enjoy various Japanese card games and origami. Leave your mobile aside and have a nice time with your friends or family in the kotatsu table.
Cherry Blossoms
There are many good spots to enjoy cherry blossoms. We will tell you some beautiful stops that only locals know. You can enjoy cherry blossoms without any other tourists.
Firefly
There are many clear streams in Miyama. Many fireflies appear from mid-June to early July. We will take you to secret spots where you observe many fireflies under the starry sky.
Swim in the River
Miyama has many clear rivers. You can swim in the clear stream, which is just 1-minute walk from Casa Miyama. There is a shallow area where children can swim and a deep area where adults can swim, so the whole family can enjoy the river.
Autumn Leaves
Autumn leaves can be seen everywhere in Miyama. Although there are few shrines and temples like Kyoto city, you can see the beautiful autumn leaves that can be more impressive than that of Kyoto city. You can enjoy them even from our garden.
Snow
Miyama is a heavy snowfall area in Kyoto Prefecture. The snowy landscape is really impressive. Children can enjoy making snowman in our garden where normally we have snow during winter.
Kayabuki no Sato
Miyama is dotted with many private houses with thatched roofs. A specific village with a concentration of thatched roof houses is called "Kayabuki no Sato" and is located 15-minute drive from Casa Miyama.
Ono Dam
At Ono Dam, which is a 15-minute drive from Casa Miyama, you can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in autumn. There is also a picnic area that is popular for Japanese families to spend a day with nature.
Trekking Tour to Waterfalls
There are many beautiful waterfalls in the area where Casa Miyama is located. We recommend the “Hora no Taki Trekking Tour,” in which you climb a moderately maintained deep mountain valley with a local guide. Open from April to November. The trekking tour with a lunch box takes 4 hours (11:00~15:00). Enjoy the trekking before checking in to Casa Miyama or after checking out. Reservation is required at least 3 days in advance. 6,600 yen per person. If you are interested, please let us know at the time of booking.
Gibier of Miyama
Venison and boar meat caught by Miyama's hunters have no odor at all. It doesn't have to be dipped in sauce or simmered in wine for hours. Enjoy our BBQ with venison and boar meet. Hot pot with boar meat, which is only available in winter, is also excellent and highly recommended.
Taste the Vegetables of Miyama
The vegetables grown in Miyama, where there is a large temperature difference between day and night, are very delicious. You cannot compare with the vegetables sold at the supermarket. Please enjoy the vegetables of Miyama.
Horse Chestnut Mochi
In the village where Casa Miyama is located, we go into the forest every fall to pick up horse chestnuts that fall from a 400-year-old horse chestnut tree. And after a long process, we make and sell handmade horse chestnut mochi.
